VIT University, Vellore is one of India’s most reputed private
universities, rated among the premier institutes for student
centric research and project work, as per a study carried out
by The Hindu English daily, published in April 2013, also
ranked 8th best engineering institute in India, 2013 by India
Today. VIT University has been ranked as the best private
engineering institution under National Institutional Ranking
Framework (NIRF) rankings 2016. VIT is home to a total of over
20,000 students of various streams and specializations,
comprising both Indian and foreign nationals.
Baja SAE is an intercollegiate design competition run by
the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Student teams from universities all over the world design and build
small off-road cars. The cars have 10 bhp (7.5kW) engines.
The off road car manufactured has to follow certain safety
rules as specified in Baja SAE rulebook. The goal in Baja
SAE racing is to design, build and race off-road vehicles that
can withstand the harshest elements of rough terrain. The
vehicles used in Baja SAE racing are often similar in
appearance to dune buggies.
We, Team Jaabaz, are a team of undergraduate students
operating out of VIT University Vellore, and we manufacture
an All-Terrain Vehicle, indigenously designed, every year and
compete with teams internationally, in Baja SAE
competitions organized by the Society of Automotive
Engineers (SAE) in the United States of America.
